I got to speak with Heather Hoff, an employee at Diablo Canyon and founder of Mothers for Nuclear. This one was a big deal for me—I really admire Heather and all the work that she does. We talked about how Heather came to work at Diablo, how she overcame her fears of nuclear and became one of its fiercest advocates. We also talked about the amazing march to save Diablo that took place over the weekend.
"We're obviously very disappointed with this outcome," said IBEW Utility Department Director Jim Hunter. Diablo Canyon is the latest in a series of recent nuclear plant closure announcements around the U.S. "We've got real concerns about the stability of the American power grid, and we continue to argue that shutting down clean, reliable baseload power sources is a wrongheaded approach."
Despite that, said Local 1245 Business Manager Tom Dalzell, Diablo Canyon's future faced some significant regulatory hurdles, and negotiations leading up to PG&E's announcement secured the best deal the plant's employees could have hoped for.

Great to Hear Ms Hoff and Mothers for Nuclear wish IBEW DID NOT accept deal for Diablo closure. Can that be renegotiated?
Hey Brian! Thanks for listening. I don't know if the IBEW can renegotiate the closure deal. But I'll look into it now that you've asked.
