Synth fuels are the way in which our salvation lies. This is where I disagree with the folks that worship at the altar of the large light water reactors, because for synth fuels to become economically competitive the cost of a kWh will need to drop close to 10x (see the Lucid Catalyst work). So this is the main driver for the development of advanced high temperature designs.
Not that I wouldn’t welcome a ton more large LWRs with CO2 scrubbers on their cooling towers though!
Always a pleasure with Herr Rettberg as your guest. I honestly can’t remeber if carbon capture from seawater was discussed, for example the way the Navy labs were/are? testing. Of course «fuelled» by nukes. Gordon McDowell had several videos on the topic
