As a chemist who recalls the controversy from the beginning, the review is very useful to become up to date on cold fusion.
As a hands on experimentalist, I can share that in many instances expected results or phenomena can be spurious and difficult to repeat, and indeed, many systems produce such results for many years, until they are figured out or not. Nonetheless, useful products and processes may spring from even poorly understood chemical phenomena.
